Pascal Tesch

Position:
President
About

Born and raised in Luxembourg, he pursued a comprehensive education combining fencing, sports science, and information technology, earning degrees from prestigious institutions in Paris, Cologne, and Liverpool.

His fencing career led him to some of Europe’s most prominent clubs, including Levallois in France and Tauberbischofsheim in Germany, where he had the privilege of learning from and collaborating with several of the greatest contemporary coaches. Many became mentors, colleagues, and lifelong friends, contributing to his broad understanding of fencing and its diverse philosophies.

Professionally, he serves as Chief Information Officer of Luxembourg’s national public radio. He began fencing at the age of eight, alongside sports such as judo, athletics, and volleyball, but fencing soon became his primary pursuit and lifelong passion. Within the Luxembourg Fencing Federation (FLE), he has held various roles since 1986 and was elected President in 2010. In 2021, he stepped down to prevent any conflict of interest with his growing international responsibilities.

At the continental level, he joined the European Fencing Confederation (EFC) SEMI Commission in 2009, engaging in numerous equipment-related and technical projects. In 2013, he was elected to the EFC Executive Committee and appointed Chairman of the SEMI Commission, where he introduced several initiatives focused on training, mentoring, and development.

His leadership also extended to broader modernization efforts, including securing Microsoft as an EFC sponsor for digital communication tools, revising statutes to align with the FIE, and spearheading a redesign of the EFC website.

In 2016, he transitioned to the FIE Executive Committee to avoid holding dual mandates, while continuing to support EFC projects and contribute to international fencing development in countries such as Algeria, Kenya, Pakistan, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia.

During the 2022 elections in Warsaw, he aligned strategically with Giorgio Scarso, prioritizing the sport’s collective interest over personal ambition. Since then, he has served as Strategic Director for External Affairs and consultant to Mr. Scarso, focusing on sustainable growth and unity within European fencing.
