EFC CADET CIRCUIT RESULTS: WARSZAWA, TBILISI, AND MAINZ

The European Fencing Confederation (EFC) proudly shares the latest results from a weekend filled with exceptional talent and thrilling competition. From Warsaw, Poland, to Tbilisi, Georgia, and Mainz, Germany, young fencers gave it their all, reminding us once again of the bright future of European fencing.

Warsaw - Cadet Men’s Foil

In Warsaw, the Cadet Men’s Foil event unfolded with captivating intensity. Israel’s Eitan Lemberger showcased his skill and determination, taking home the gold after a series of tightly contested matches. Italy proved to be a dominant force, with Emanuele Iaquinta earning silver, while his compatriots Giuseppe Di Martino and Sergio Barsotti both shared the bronze after an impressive run through the competition. The team event saw Ukraine emerge victorious, with a cohesive performance that secured the gold, followed by Turkey, whose sharp tactics earned them silver. Slovakia rounded off the podium, claiming bronze.

 

Tbilisi - Cadet Men’s and Women’s Sabre

In Tbilisi, the Georgian crowd was treated to a local hero’s triumph as Giorgi Urushadze powered through the Cadet Men’s Sabre event, claiming gold in front of an enthusiastic home audience. His victory was hard-fought, with Azerbaijan’s Abbas Huseynov putting up a fierce challenge to take silver. Turkey’s rising stars, Yigit Ayaz and Candeniz Berrak, both earned bronze, demonstrating their nation’s growing strength in the sabre discipline.

In the team event, Turkey’s sabre fencers were in unstoppable form, with their first team securing gold and their second team taking silver, showcasing remarkable depth. Georgia’s team, led by Urushadze, earned a well-deserved bronze, completing a weekend of standout performances.

The women’s sabre competition also delivered high drama, with Greece’s Anna Kalliopi Korousi capturing the gold after a series of brilliant bouts. Turkey’s Irem Guner battled her way to silver, while the bronze medals were split between Azerbaijan’s Leyla Ahmadova and Turkey’s Irmak Senoglu, both of whom left a lasting impression on the competition. In the team event, Azerbaijan dominated, with their unified performance sealing the gold, while Turkey’s teams secured silver and bronze, respectively.

 

Mainz - U14 European Circuit

In Germany, the youngest talents took to the piste in Mainz for the U14 European Circuit. In the men’s sabre event, Ben Schmierer of Germany outdueled his competition to claim gold, while Jakob Johann Negri, also from Germany, took silver. Two bronze medals were awarded to Delin Su and Pero Marijanovic, further demonstrating Germany’s depth of talent at this level.

On the women’s side, Luisa Paulsen delivered a flawless performance to secure gold, while Noée Ganse took silver in a closely contested final. The bronze medals went to Timea Rus and Liv Umlauf, rounding out a weekend of inspiring performances from the young fencers.

This weekend’s competitions across Warszawa, Tbilisi, and Mainz served as a powerful reminder of the strength and promise of Europe’s emerging fencers. The athletes demonstrated an inspiring blend of skill, passion, and dedication.
