London hosted u23 foil competition

The inaugural London Cup, which consisted of Men’s and Women’s Foil U23 EFC competition took place in Newham, London (GBR) on the 3rd November 2018.  
 
In the men’s foil event, a total of 121 athletes from 23 countries. The top eight was made up of fencers from three different countries. The winner of the event was Kirill Borodachev (RUS) who defeated Anton Borodachev (RUS) 15-7 in the final. Third place was shared by Maximilien Chastanet (FRA) and Tyvan Bibard (FRA). The top eight was completed by Meddy Elice (FRA), Rafael Savin (FRA), Tom Voltz (FRA) and Connor Head (GBR).  
 
In the women’s foil event, the competition was made up of 70 fencers from 14 countries. The top eight was made up of fencers from two different countries, France and Russia. The champion was Elena Petrova (RUS) who defeated Solene Butruille (FRA) 15-7 in the final. Third place was shared by Constance Catarzi (FRA) and Oceane Blum (FRA). The top eight was completed by Chloe Jubenot (FRA), Marie Duchesne (FRA), Eva Lacheray (FRA) and Polina Kozaeva (RUS).  
 
The medals for both men’s and women’s events were awarded by Matthias Ossyra, board member of British Fencing, after a gala final. 
 
The event was run by British Fencing.
