Antalya Cadet Circuit: Day 2 concludes with thrilling victories

The second day of the Cadet Circuit in Antalya delivered intense bouts and remarkable performances across three weapon categories. With competitors from across Europe battling for the podium, Hungary, Türkiye, and Ukraine each celebrated significant victories, while Italy continued to showcase its depth in talent.

Cadet Men's Foil

Hungary’s Hunor Kosztolanyi emerged victorious in the men’s foil event, securing gold after a strong performance throughout the day. Italy’s Marco Panazzolo claimed silver, while the bronze medals were shared by his compatriot Nicolò Collini and France’s Lucas Robinet, both demonstrating impressive technical skills on the piste.

Interview with Hunor Kosztolanyi:

"I felt very good today, but in the end, I was exhausted. I knew it would be my big day, but I also knew I had to fence against very strong opponents—the best fencers in the world. I am happy I was able to win against them. The competition was very exhausting both mentally and physically. Today I felt strong, and my counter-attacks were very good."

Cadet Men's Saber

The home crowd had plenty to celebrate as Candeniz Berrak clinched Türkiye’s second gold of the tournament, solidifying the country’s growing strength in sabre. Bulgaria’s Nikolay-Tomas Georgiev took silver after an intense final, while Germany’s Leonard Weber and Italy’s Andrea Tribuno secured bronze, showcasing the competitive balance within the event.

Interview with Candeniz Berrak:

"Right now, I am very tired and very happy. Today, before the tournament, I was very nervous, and it was a problem for me, but I spoke with my coach, and we were able to overcome it. In my quarter-final, I was losing 4:8, but I managed to come back from that. My superpower? My dad, who was supporting me."

Cadet Women's Épée

Ukraine’s Alina Dmytruk claimed the top spot in women’s épée, demonstrating resilience and precision. Italy’s Ludovica Costantini finished with silver, while France’s Rubeen Rembi and Romania’s Natalia Constantin shared the bronze, adding to their countries’ medal counts in Antalya.

Interview with Alina Dmytruk:

"I am feeling very happy for this medal because I was preparing for this competition for a long time. In the morning, I was feeling very nervous, but after the pool, I believed in myself and tried my best. The hardest match was the semifinal because I won 15:14. My superpower today was to believe in myself and to not have stress."
