European U23 Championships started today in Yerevan, Armenia. In the hall of Yerevan State University, the first two events, men's saber and women's epee found their champions. Women's epee with 59 participants ended with a gold medal for Poland, as Zamachowska Aleksandra defeated her rival Marzani Roberta (ITA) in the final in a tight match 11:9. Bronze medals went to Buech Kim Jasmin (SUI) and Obraztsova Maria (RUS).
Colorful palette of finallists complemented men's saber competition with Cavaliere Dario (ITA) who won against home Shengelia Nika in the final 15:6. Third places went to Danilenko Dmitriy (RUS) and Dubarry Baptiste (FRA).
