Exciting Conclusion to the EFC FFE Brindisi

The EFC FFE Brindisi tournament marked the first event under the Fencing for Everyone initiative, aimed at promoting inclusivity and broadening participation in fencing. The competition delivered thrilling foil matches, with Italy showcasing its dominance in both the individual and team events. The weekend saw intense battles, with close scores, especially in the men’s final, where Matteo Iacomoni secured a hard-fought victory.

Men’s Foil Individual

Italy swept the podium in the men’s individual foil event. Matteo Iacomoni took the gold after a nail-biting 15:14 final against fellow Italian Jacopo Bonato, in what was considered the toughest match of the day. Elia Pasin and Federico Greganti, both from Italy, shared the third-place spots, making it an all-Italian podium.

Women’s Foil Individual

The women’s individual foil event mirrored Italy’s success, with Aurora Grandis claiming the top spot. In an all-Italian final, Benedetta Pantanetti took silver, while Greta Saioni and Giulia Amore shared third place.

Men’s Foil Team

Italy also triumphed in the men’s team foil event, defeating Great Britain in a fiercely contested final with a score of 45-39. Matteo Iacomoni, once again, led the Italian team alongside Raian Adoul, Federico Greganti, and Jacopo Bonato. Great Britain fought hard but couldn’t overcome the Italian squad. Sweden took third place.

The Italian women’s team continued their winning streak, taking gold in the team event. Sophie Bardes, Aurora Grandis, Benedetta Pantanetti, and Claudia Rotella defeated the Great Britain team in the final. Belgium secured third place on the podium.
