JUNIOR TEAM EVENTS BEGIN IN SERBIA

FIRST THREE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM EVENTS COMPLETE

The first three team events took place today on day four of the Junior European Fencing Championships.

Hungary topped the table in the Women’s Team Epee event as their lineup of Lili Buki, Greta Gachalyi, Eszter Muhari and Reka Salamon collected the European title. Germany – Lara Goldmann, Katharina Kozielski, Laura Wetzker and Alexandra Zittel – collected the silver medal after losing in the final. The Czech Republic completed the podium as Gabriela Aigermanova, Veronika Bieleszova, Tereza Havlinova and Patricie Proksikova received the bronze medal.

In the Women’s Team Foil event Romania – Emilia Corbu, Andreea Dinca, Teodora Sofran and Karina Vasile – struck gold beating France – Alicia Audibert, Esther Bonny, Heloise Pelletier and Marion Rousseau – in the final. The bronze medal was claimed by Ukraine – Kateryna Budenko, Kristina Petrova, Alina Poloziuk and Olga Sopit.

The last event on the penultimate date of the Junior competition saw Germany – Colin Heathcock, Antonio Heathcock, Leon Kuzmin and Valentin Meka – take the European title in the Men’s Team Sabre event. They beat Italy – Giorgio Marciano, Emanuele Nardella, Lorenzo Ottaviani and Pietro Torre – in the final as Bulgaria – Viktor Filev, Dimitar Raikin, Todor Stoychev and Georgi Zlatarov – completed the podium in the bronze medal position.
