FOGGIA – After the third day of the European competition, Italy gaines 4 medals for the individuals Under 17: two in women foil by Matilde Calvanese (gold medal) and Margherita Lorenzi (bronze), two in men epee by Dario Remondini and Simone Mencarelli.
Matilde Calvanese, gained 15-11 against the Hungarian Erika Nekifor, debuted 15-4 against the Austrian Chiara Gross and dominated at the last attack the Israelian Nikol Eros, after, 15-12 against the Ukraininan Alina Poloziuk, 15-13 against the Belorussian Darya Ulasava and 15-10 in semifinal against the other italian fencer Margherita Lorenzi; this last one arrived in semifinal defeating the Sweden Annita Poppel 15-7, the Polish Marta Oklinska 15-6, the other Polish Malwina Kolodziejckyk and the Ukraine Kateryna Budenko 15-7, the bronze medal was gained equally by the Russian Aleksandra Korablina.
Two bronze medals for Italy in men epee gained by Dario Remondini and Simone Mencarelli. The first overcame the portoguese Miguel Frazao 15-10, the Israelian Yonatan Cohen with the same score, the Austrian Julian Fuchs 15-11 and the Ukrainian Mikhaylo Kublitskyi, at the last thrust that was fatal during the semifinal with the Hungarian Levente Bartko. Mencarelli won 15-9 against the Israelian Yuval Yosef, 15-6 the Romanian Daniel Popa, 15-8 the Swedish Mikolaj Mancewicz and 15-7 the Swiss Ian Hauri, before losing 15-7 in semifinal against the Russian Vladimir Tolasov, the future European Cadet Champion, defeating in the final Bartko 15-9.
After three days of competition, Italy is at the first rank of medal collection with two gold, one silver and six bronze medals.
