From a pioneering historical championship in Denmark to dynamic youth competitions in Finland, France, and Serbia, these tournaments are set to captivate fencing enthusiasts across the continent.

A Pilot Event in European Historical Fencing

Kicking off the action is the 1st Unofficial European Historical Fencing Championships in Kalundborg, Denmark, taking place from February 1st to 2nd, 2025. This groundbreaking pilot event is a celebration of the ancient art of swordsmanship, bringing together historical fencing enthusiasts and skilled practitioners from across Europe. Set against the backdrop of Kalundborg’s rich historical heritage—just steps away from the iconic five-towered Church of Our Lady and the remnants of an ancient castle—the championship offers a unique atmosphere where tradition meets competitive spirit.

Although not officially part of the regular European Championship roster of the EFC, the event enjoys robust support from the confederation and prominent figures such as former EFC President Giorgio Scarso, alongside the Italian and Danish Fencing Federations. Featuring competitions in categories like Sword and Buckler, Long Sword, Military Sabre, and Rapier and Dagger, this championship is not only a celebration of historical techniques but also a proof of concept for integrating traditional practices with modern competitive fencing.
