Decisions of the EFC COMEX at its Autumn Meeting 2022

The EFC COMEX had its Autumn meeting in a hybrid form on Saturday 22nd October and Sunday 23rd October in Rome (ITA) and dealt with a full agenda, including such items as reports from European Cup in Cagliari, and the coming European Games 2023.

EFC COMEX Members
The president welcomed the new members of the COMEX, Hilary Philbin(GBR) and Vadym Guttsait(UKR)

The main decisions of the COMEX meeting are as follows:

New appointments for presidents of some commissions and projects
Referee Commission and Training Fencing Masters Commission– Gabor Bozcko(HUN)
Competition Commission – Nikolay Mateev(ISL)
Veterans Council and Women’s & Sport Council- Metaxia Smaili(GRE)
New European project (further information is coming)- Hilary Philbin(GBR)

Strategic Director
At the proposal of the president, Pascal Tesch was unanimously appointed as the strategic director (pro bono) of the EFC.

Future European Games, Cadets & Juniors Championships, and U23 Championships Updates
Reports were received from the EFC Technical Director Julius Kralik,  concerning European Games in Krakow and the Cadets & Junior Championships in Tallinn.
 

The decision of dates of the European Championships:
21-28.02.2023 Cadets and Juniors, Tallin, Estonia
23-27.05.2023 U 23 in Budapest, Hungary
25-30.06.2023 (already decided in a previous meeting), Senior Championships/European Games, Krakow, Poland

Referee Commission
The COMEX approved the master list for 2023/2023.

EFC Congress
The next Congress will take place on 23rd June 2023 in Krakow, during the European Championships and Games as per the EFC Statutes.

EFC Capital of fencing
During the meeting it was decided to create a new concept to give more visibility and promote our sport in a wider aspect: the Fencing Capital, the title will be awarded to the host of the current senior championships of every year. For the 2023 season Krakow was chosen as the EFC Fencing Capital 2023 as it is hosting the Senior Championships and European Games.
