ELEVEN NATIONS RECEIVE PRESIDENTIAL GRANTS
After consideration by the EFC’s Executive Committee three member federations are to receive a financial support relating to participation at the Olympic Zonal Qualifying event last month. Furthermore, an additional joint allocation with support of the FFF (International Charity Fund “For the Future of Fencing” will benefit eight countries with smaller grants to facilitate an international training camp to be held in Estonia in September.
The decision was ratified by the EFC Board based on direct applications for support addressed to the EFC President.
Armenia and Georgia and Moldova receive grants to cover the costs associated with the ZQE in Madrid.
In addition, the EFC jointly with the FFF provides support to eight countries in the running of a traditional pre-season international Nordic Fencing camp. Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and Estonia will each receive a part of the consolidated subsidy totaling at €14,000 to support their participation and training.
The EFC Board supported the allocation of these amounts from the President’s Fund in addition to support from the FFF. The fund itself is based on the President’s initiative of support for the EFC member federations.
Speaking about the decision, EFC Secretary General Jacek Slupski stressed, “In these challenging times the EFC is satisfied to be able to support the member nations’ participation in the ZQE. As we continue our work to resume international competitions the EFC is also delighted to join the financial support of the Nordic Fencing camp. Finally, we are grateful to our President, Stanislav Pozdniakov for making all of this possible within his Presidential initiative.”
