Cadet fencers from around the world gathered this past weekend to showcase their skills and compete in three exciting cadet circuits. Novi Sad in Serbia hosted the epee circuit, Gothenburg in Sweden organized the foil circuit, and Bucharest in Romania held the sabre circuit. In addition, Budapest in Hungary welcomed U23 sabre fencers for a thrilling competition. Let's take a closer look at the results from each event.
Starting with the cadet epee circuit in Novi Sad, Sameer Sunder Rajan from Great Britain claimed the top spot in the men's individual event. This marks Sameer's second victory, following his triumph in Austria in October. Maksym Guła from Ukraine came in second place. Hungary's Aron Petrovszki and Boldizsar Kelemen shared the third-place position. In the women's individual event, Mariia Sereda from Ukraine secured first place, with Lotti Horvath from Hungary taking second. Tamara Sych from Ukraine and Anna Szilard from Hungary tied for third place.
In the team events, Ukraine's second team showcased their dominance by securing first place, followed by Hungary in second. Ukraine's first team earned third place. In the women's epee team event, Hungary claimed the top spot, while Ukraine's team secured second place. Romania rounded out the top three in this event.
Meanwhile, in Gothenburg, cadet foil fencers showcased their talent. Frode Vaaben from Denmark triumphed in the men's individual event, with Anton Abrahamsson from Sweden finishing in second place. Max Kavecky from the Czech Republic and Tomas Aguinaga from Ecuador shared the third-place position. In the women's individual event, Elizaveta Kopyltsova from Cyprus secured first place, while Sarah Mei from the USA came in second. Ceana Oh from Korea and Natalia Machado Leal from Venezuela both achieved third place.
The men's foil team event saw Denmark take the top spot, with the Czech Republic finishing in second place followed by Ecuador in third. In the women's foil team event, Chinese Taipei claimed first place, Sweden secured second, and the Czech Republic rounded out the top three.
Finally, in Bucharest, it was the cadet sabre fencers turn to showcase their skills. In the men's individual event, Nikolay-Tomas Georgiev from Bulgaria claimed the gold, while Thomas Billod from France secured second place. Cristian Macovei from Romania and Dmytrii Zahrebelnyi from Ukraine tied for third place. In the women's individual event, Alexandra Kuvaeva from Georgia emerged victorious, with Anna Kalliopi Kourousi from Greece taking second. Anna Suvorova from Ukraine and Constance Mercier from France shared the third-place position.
In the team events, Bulgaria's men's sabre team celebrated their success by finishing in first place, closely followed by France in second, and Romania in third. For the women's sabre team event, Romania took the gold, while Great Britain claimed second place and Bulgaria secured third.
Additionally, Budapest hosted an exciting U23 sabre competition that showcased the talents of the young fencers. In the men's individual event, Krisztian Rabb from Hungary finished on the top podium spot, with Paul Ursachi from Romania securing second place. Benedek Vigh and Gergo Horvath, both from Hungary, tied for third place. In the women's individual event, Liza Pusztai, Luca Szucs, Sugar Katinka Battai, and Renata Katona, all from Hungary, formed the top four.
