JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS FINISHES WITH THREE MORE CHAMPIONS CROWNED
The last three team events took place today on day five of the Junior European Fencing Championships bringing the under-20 events to a close.
Switzerland topped the table in the Men’s Team Epee event as their lineup of Theo Brochard, Diego Erbetta, Ian Hauri and Sven Vineis collected the European title. Great Britain - Alec Brooke, James Jeal, Jacob Mitchell and Joseph Walmsley - collected the silver medal after losing in the final. Italy completed the podium as Filippo Armaleo, Matteo Galassi, Simone Mencarelli and Enrico Piatti received the bronze medal.
In the Men’s Team Foil event Italy – Jacopo Bonato, Damiano Di Veroli, Giulio Lombardi and Tommaso Martini – claimed the title beating Poland – Adam Jakubowski, Piotr Kaskow, Mateusz Kwiatkowski – in the final. The bronze medal was claimed by France – Anas Anane, Valerian Castanie, Eliot Chagnon and Paul Antoine De Belval.
The last event of the Junior competition saw Hungary – Sugar Katinka Battai, Dorottya Beviz, Kita Keszei and Luca Szucs – take the European title in the Women’s Team Sabre event. They beat France – Amalia Aime, Cyrielle Girardin, Mathilde Mouroux and Lola Tranquille – in the final as Italy – Carlotta Fusetti, Manuela Spica, Lucia Stefanello and Mariella Viale – completed the podium in the bronze medal position.
The Cadet event begins on 3 March.
