Record Numbers: Over 1,600 Fencers Set for European Weekend

The European fencing community is set for an action-packed weekend as four major events take place across the continent, showcasing the best young talent in epee, foil, and sabre. With participants representing over 40 countries, this weekend promises intense competition and inspiring performances. 

U23 European Circuit Berlin – Germany – Epee 

Berlin will host one of the most anticipated U23 European Circuit events, bringing together 455 fencers from 34 countries. 

  • Men’s Epee: A staggering 291 competitors will begin their journey on Saturday, January 11, with preliminary rounds and direct eliminations. 

  • Women’s Epee: 164 athletes from 22 countries will aim to secure their spot among the top fencers. 

The competition will conclude on Sunday, January 12, with the best 64 athletes battling it out for the top spots.

Cadet Circuit Bratislava – Slovakia – Epee 

Slovakia is gearing up to host the largest event of the weekend, with an impressive 694 fencers competing in the Cadet Circuit in Bratislava. 

With 366 men representing 42 countries and 328 women from 37 nations, this event demonstrates the global appeal and competitive spirit of youth fencing. 

The progam of the competition: 

  • Saturday, January 11: Men’s Epee Individual and Women’s Epee Teams. 

  • Sunday, January 12: Women’s Epee Individual and Men’s Epee Teams.

Cadet Circuit Poznan – Poland – Foil 

Poznan will welcome 188 cadet fencers from 25 countries to compete in Women’s Foil events. 

The program of the competition: 

  • Saturday, January 11: Women’s Foil Individual. 

  • Sunday, January 12: Women’s Foil Team. 

This event highlights the technical precision and agility required in foil fencing, promising thrilling encounters.

Cadet Circuit Segovia – Spain – Sabre 

In Segovia, sabre fencers will take center stage as 328 competitors showcase their speed and strategic prowess. 

This event will feature 189 men from 23 countries and 139 women from 17 nations, making it a must-watch for fans of this dynamic discipline. 

The program of the competition: 

  • Saturday, January 11: Men’s Sabre Individual (U17) and Women’s Sabre Team  

  • Sunday, January 12: Women’s Sabre Individual (U17) and Men’s Sabre Team
