The Epee Clinic in Wattignies, co-organized by EFC and the French Fencing Federation (FFE), proved to be a remarkable success, attracting participants from around the world and providing a platform for international fencing development. Held at the C.R.E.P.S. in Wagnies near Lille, the clinic brought together 13 trainees from 12 different countries. The aim of the clinic was to provide a platform for international exchange and foster the development of epee fencing skills.
The clinic was facilitated by Maestro Frederic Chotin, a renowned figure in the French fencing community. Chotin, who serves as a CTN (Conseiller technique national) and the coordinator DEJEPS at the Pôle France épée dames, possesses extensive experience as a trainer and lecturer in the French school's training program. His expertise and guidance were key factors in creating a highly valuable and enriching learning environment for the participants.
The clinic program encompassed several essential elements crucial for the development of epee fencing skills. These included individual lessons, video analysis, season planning, physical preparation, and footwork in epee training. The comprehensive nature of the program ensured that participants received a holistic and well-rounded training experience.
The choice of the C.R.E.P.S. as the venue for the clinic proved to be a wise one. The trainees had the convenience of staying on-site, and the facilities, including accommodation and dining arrangements, were both comfortable and efficient. Additionally, the location offered opportunities for participants to explore and experience the local attractions, providing a well-rounded experience both on and off the training floor.
With an exceptional head coach, a comprehensive program and a conducive venue, the clinic exemplified the potential of collaborative learning and skill enhancement. As the feedback highlights, the clinic not only met participants' expectations but also exceeded them, affirming the reputation of the EFC in organizing high-quality events. The innovative approach and the opportunity for group interaction were highlighted as key elements of success. The expertise and mastery of Chotin were also widely acknowledged and appreciated. Future editions will undoubtedly build upon this success and continue to contribute to the advancement of epee fencing worldwide.
