European Fencing Championships 2024: Successful Inspection Visit to Basel Concludes

The European Fencing Confederation (EFC) has successfully concluded an inspection visit to Basel, Switzerland, in preparation for the European Fencing Championships 2024.

The event is scheduled to be held at "St. Jakobshalle Basel" from 18 June to 23 June 2024. Members of the EFC, Ana Valero-Collantes (EFC COMEX member) and Julius Kralik (EFC Technical Director) alongside local organizing committees, and representatives from the Swiss Fencing Federation, embarked on a detailed review of the facilities, logistics, and readiness of the city to host one of the continent's premier fencing events.

Key highlights from the inspection visit include:

• Venues & Infrastructure: The delegation was highly impressed with the state-of-the-art facilities available in Basel, noting that they meet the international standards required for a championship of this scale. Special mention was made of the main competition arena, training venues, and athlete accommodations, ensuring top-notch experiences for participants and fans alike.

• Logistics & Transportation: With Basel's robust transport network and its strategic location in Europe, attendees can expect efficient transport options, making the experience seamless for athletes, officials, and fans coming from different parts of Europe.

• Environmental Considerations: Basel's commitment to sustainability was evident. The organizing committee showcased their eco-friendly initiatives, aiming to make the championships one of the greenest events in its history.

• Safety & Security: Given the importance of safety in such international events, the inspection team was satisfied with the comprehensive security measures put in place, both at the competition venues and throughout the city.
