European Youth Fencing Festival to be Held in Budapest

24 May 2024

The European Fencing Confederation is thrilled to announce that the University of Sport in Budapest will host the inaugural European Under-14 Fencing Youth Festival. This landmark event will take place on the 28th, 29th and 30th. June, marking a significant moment for young fencers across the continent.

With just seven days remaining until the registration deadline, the following countries have already confirmed their participation: Poland, Croatia, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Slovenia, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Armenia, Romania, Spain, and Great Britain. Anticipation is high that additional nations will join in the coming days, promising a diverse and competitive field of young athletes.

The Hungarian Fencing Federation, to whom we extend our heartfelt thanks, is diligently working to ensure the success of an event that will see around 500 young fencers compete. Preparations are in full swing for an opening ceremony that promises to be a celebration for all participants, their coaches, and their families. A distinguished fencer, whose identity will be revealed at the pre-event press conference, will serve as the festival’s ambassador, adding a touch of inspiration and prestige to the proceedings.

Federations have until June 1st to finalize their registrations. Following this, the competition schedule will be drafted and published on the Confederation's website. This event will be a miniature Olympics for our young athletes, providing a taste of the grander stages that lie ahead for our future champions.

Stay tuned for further updates and join us in celebrating the spirit of youth and sportsmanship at the European Youth Fencing Festival in Budapest!
