To strengthen and nurture a more attentive and productive bond with federations, President Giorgio Scarso embarked on a visit to the Armenian Federation. During the meeting with Armen Grigoryan, President of the Armenian Fencing Federation, Artur Sedrakyan, Secretary-General, and key associates, a comprehensive review of the Armenian fencing movement was conducted. The aim was to discuss and align on various matters, programs, and anticipated goals of utmost importance.
The encounter with the federation's technical staff and fencers, from the youngest to those who will represent the country in the upcoming Junior and Cadet European Championship in Naples, was particularly warm.
During his two-day stay in Yerevan, President Scarso met with the President of the Armenian Olympic Committee and the Minister of Sports, Culture, and Youth, both of whom expressed great attention towards fencing, thanks to the strong management skills of the current Armenian fencing leadership.
The two high-ranking representatives of both the NOC and the Armenian government expressed great appreciation for the visit and requested to host a continental-level event in Armenia in the coming years, assuring concrete support and collaboration in organizing such an event.
To that end, officials from the NOC and the Ministry of Sports accompanied President Scarso on a familiarization visit of the capital's sports facility, which proved to be of great value and more than capable of hosting continental fencing events.
Subsequently, still accompanied by NOC officials, President Scarso visited the magnificent, functional, and well-equipped Olympic Preparation Center of the Armenian NOC.
At the conclusion of the visit, President Scarso expressed great appreciation for fencing's position within the country's sports context and assured the utmost attention and support from the Confederation towards the Armenian federation, as well as towards all federations, both those that have shaped the history of fencing and those that represent the "growing fencing in Europe."
