From Cadets to U23: Europe’s young fencers shine
The weekend of 25–26 October brought energy and excitement to pistes across Europe, as fencers from U14 to U23 categories competed in six international events – from Tbilisi to Gothenburg, Aix-en-Provence to Foggia. Each tournament showcased both rising talents and the strength of national fencing schools, uniting the community through competition and passion.
Georgian success in Tbilisi
At the Cadet Sabre Circuit in Tbilisi, the hosts celebrated an impressive weekend, claiming victories in both individual and team events.
In the men’s category, Giorgi Urushadze triumphed for Georgia ahead of Abbas Huseynov of Azerbaijan, while Evangelos Vasileios Koutlas from Greece and Jiri Machaj from the Czech Republic completed the podium.
Among the women, Anastasia Asatiani brought home another gold for Georgia, followed by Zuleykha Sultanli (Azerbaijan), with Ayan Aghasiyeva (Azerbaijan) and Tekla Kapanadze (Georgia) finishing third.
Team competitions continued the celebration: Georgia’s men’s team – Saba Gogokhia, Gabriel Oniani, Danieli Tcheishvili and Giorgi Urushadze – took gold ahead of the mixed team of Azerbaijan, Denmark and the Czech Republic. The women’s title went to Azerbaijan (Zuleykha Sultanli, Jahan Sadikhova, Ayan Aghasiyeva), with Georgia and Kazakhstan completing the podium.

Strong performances in Gothenburg
In Gothenburg, the Cadet Foil Circuit offered high-level fencing and impressive performances from several nations.
In the men’s event, Mahel Boumaza of France took the top spot ahead of his teammate Victor Lezinska, while Fletcher Mazaheri (USA) and Simon Belissa (France) shared third place.
Among the women, Liene Abele from Latvia claimed victory, followed by Katie Johnson (Great Britain), with Rianne Leung (Australia) and Nina Forgach (Slovakia) in third place.
Team competitions brought further excitement, with France 3 (Hugo Caron, Constantin Chino, Mahdi Friha Yahiaoui, Leonardo Racape) taking gold ahead of France 2 (Lucien Girardot, Noah Girondin, Victor Lezinska, Roman Volpel) and France 1 (Simon Belissa, Leo Singharat Blanchard, Mahel Boumaza, Lucas Robinet).
In the women’s event, Germany 2 (Assol Chakyr, Martha Grosche, Florentine Grund, Emma Klostermann) celebrated victory, followed by Slovakia (Nina Forgach, Martina Posvancova, Blanka Boglarka Vilaghy, Karolina Kinga Vilaghy) and Great Britain 1 (Katie Johnson, Gloriosa Sung, Layla Lang, Mary Maguire).

Young stars in Aix-en-Provence and Timisoara
The U14 European Circuit also brought together the youngest fencers in Aix-en-Provence and Timisoara.
In Aix, the Trophée International Licciardi celebrated strong results for both French and international athletes.
In the men’s foil, victory went to Maël Saubin (France), who defeated Vladyslav Voitko (Ukraine) in the final. The bronze medals were shared by Mathieu Beaupère (France) and Andrei Mihai (Romania).
Among the women, Isia Brunet (France) climbed to the top of the podium ahead of her teammate Romane Vellieux (France), while Olivia Johnson (Great Britain) and Aleksandra Pensa (Great Britain) took bronze.

In Timisoara, Theodor Schaefer (Czech Republic) claimed the men’s foil title, followed by Zalan Racz (Hungary), while Gergely Zalan Kertesz (Hungary) and Rares Popescu (Romania) shared bronze.
In the women’s event, the home nation celebrated as Giulia Levrone (Romania) took gold ahead of Catrinel Dubau (Romania), with Savina Petrov (Bulgaria) and Laura Vladic Reis (Croatia) completing the podium.

Eurofence League brings diversity to Colmar
The Eurofence League in Colmar hosted epeeists from multiple nations and categories.
In the men’s senior event, Dov Ber Vilensky (Israel) took gold ahead of Lukas Bellmann (Germany), with Aymeric Gally (France) and Rafael Tulen (Netherlands) on the third step of the podium.
Among the women, Pauline Brunner (Switzerland) earned victory ahead of Emily Conrad (Ukraine), Gaia Caforio (Italy) and Solene Mbiim (France).

Italian sweep in Foggia
Finally, the U23 European Circuit in Foggia showcased a full Italian podium in both men’s and women’s sabre.
In the men’s event, Marco Stigliano claimed gold, followed by Edoardo Cantini, Cosimo Bertini and Francesco Pagano.
In the women’s competition, Michela Landi won ahead of Flavia Astolfi, with Manuela Spica and Vittoria Mocci sharing bronze.
