Budapest, Godollo, Riga, and Brindisi hosted hundreds of young fencers for an exciting November weekend.
Four events, one spirit
From 8 to 9 November 2025, Europe’s fencing community witnessed a weekend rich in international competition and youthful energy. Across four cities — Budapest, Godollo, Riga, and Brindisi — young fencers proved that the future of our sport is as promising as ever. The Cadet Circuits in Hungary gathered hundreds of épée and sabre fencers, Riga hosted a vibrant U14 European Circuit, and Brindisi welcomed U23 athletes to the Italian pistes for two intense days of épée action.
Budapest – Cadet Circuit Epee
The Hungarian capital hosted one of the largest cadet events of the season, with 450 male épéeists taking part in the individual competition and 73 women’s teams contesting the title.
In the men’s individual event, Christopher Davoodian from the United States claimed the gold after a strong final against Nicolas Siso Esche of Austria, while Andy Zheng of the United States and Fotios Minos of Greece took bronze.
Among women, victory went to Vivian Young from the United States, who fenced with remarkable precision to defeat Hana Jurkova of the Czech Republic in the final, with Hungary’s Lotti Horvath and Luxi Guo of the United States taking bronze.
In the men’s team event, Hungary 1 — composed of Patrik Dekany, Jaroslav Ors Kuznyecov, Aron Petrovszki, and Robert Voros — won gold after a thrilling final against USA 1, represented by Christopher Davoodian, Boden Lai, Benjamin Mao, and Andy Zheng, while USA 3 with James Boudreaux, Adam Ginzburg, Luke Kugler, and Dashan Xia completed the podium.
In the women’s team competition, the American squad USA 2, formed by Maya Kozlowski, Ekaterina Seregin, Pinar Yilmaz, and Vivian Young, triumphed ahead of Italy 3 with Benedetta Bianchi, Clara De Donno, Anita Negroni, and Sofia Quirini. Poland 1, represented by Zofia Bialecka, Maria Ciszczon, Lena Furman, and Jagoda Tercjak, secured bronze.

Godollo – Cadet Circuit Sabre
Just outside Budapest, Godollo hosted another world-class Cadet Circuit, this time in sabre, drawing 269 male fencers and 40 women’s teams. The United States dominated the men’s individual competition, with Howard Li taking gold ahead of his teammate Aiden Tse, while Elijah Kim and Jeein Joo, also from the United States, took bronze.
In the women’s individual event, Luisa Rezi from Germany claimed the title after defeating Isabel Schmidt of the United States, with Americans Delilah Huai and Martina Fernandez sharing the third step of the podium.
In the team competitions, the United States took the men’s title with Collin Chon, Semeon Ermakov, Aiden Tse, and Luke Vaid, defeating Italy, represented by Riccardo Maria Aquili, Christian Avaltroni, Emanuel Manzo, and Tommaso Tallarico, while another American team with Connor Chung, Alex Huang, Howard Li, and Rayn Patel earned bronze.
Among women, Hungary celebrated gold with Kincso Bacskay, Dora Berecz, Boglarka Komjathy, and Brigitta Racz, followed by Poland, represented by Natalia Bienczak, Oliwia Dwornik, Karolina Mejlun, and Amelia Ostrowska. The United States, with Martina Fernandez, Delilah Huai, Isabel Schmidt, and Sofiia Vinogorova, completed the podium.

Riga – U14 Epee and Foil Circuit
In Riga, the youngest age category of the European Circuit delivered two days of exciting fencing, with épée on Saturday and foil on Sunday.
Latvia’s Olegs Puisa claimed gold in the men’s épée event, overcoming Benjamin McConnell from Great Britain in the final, while Andrei Stoica of Romania and Oscar Cronstedt of Sweden earned bronze. The women’s épée crown went to Jingxuan Han from China, ahead of Agnia-Maria Girenko of Estonia, with Jana Kiricenko from Latvia and Liepa Kaminskaite of Lithuania completing the podium.
In men’s foil, Lazare Chitadze of Georgia emerged as the winner, followed by Damian Czerwinski from Great Britain, with Jinmi Adesanya and Frederick Mirsky, also representing Great Britain, in third place. The women’s foil event was won by Catrinel Dubau of Romania, with Sissi Li taking silver and Olivia Johnson together with Aleksandra Pensa, all from Great Britain, sharing bronze.

Brindisi – U23 Epee Circuit
In southern Italy, the U23 European Circuit in Brindisi showcased the excellence of Italy’s emerging generation. The men’s event ended with a fully Italian podium: Matteo Galassi won gold ahead of Simone Mencarelli, while Marco Francesco Locatelli and Nicolò Del Contrasto took bronze.
The women’s competition followed a similar pattern of dominance, with Vera Perini claiming first place ahead of Carola Maccagno, and Gaia Caforio together with Vittoria Siletti completing the top four.
