Lausanne and Shumen Reveal New Talents on the U14 Circuit
Lausanne Hosts Intense Epee Duels
The picturesque Swiss city of Lausanne welcomed young epee fencers from across Europe for the latest stop on the U14 European Circuit. Held over the weekend of 7–8 June 2025, the event showcased the growing talent and determination among the continent's youngest competitors.
In the men’s épée event, James Fairholme of British Fencing confirmed his place among the season’s strongest fencers by taking gold after an exceptional day of fencing. He overcame Lionel Bosshard from Switzerland in the final, with the bronze medals going to Malo Pindat de Tonquedec of France and another Swiss athlete, Aurelien Gautier.
The women’s épée competition brought victory for Italy, as Alea Mileo delivered a composed and tactical performance to claim gold. France’s Ivana Rollin earned silver after a strong run, while the podium was completed by Georgina Kasper of Switzerland and Lena Steuerer of Germany, both awarded bronze.
Romanian Dominance in Shumen’s Foil Events
The week prior, the Bulgarian town of Shumen hosted the foil edition of the U14 European Circuit from 31 May to 1 June 2025. The event turned into a triumph for Romania, whose young athletes dominated both men's and women’s foil categories.
Matei Lita led the Romanian charge in the men’s foil final, securing the top spot after defeating his compatriot Rares Popescu, who took silver. The bronze medals were awarded to Abdullah Dakak of Qatar and Lazare Chitadze of Georgia — both showing excellent form throughout the day.
The Romanian girls swept the women’s foil podium completely. Delia Stefa Marin captured gold in an all-Romanian final against Antoni Stanescu. Catrinel Dubau and Alexandra Nicula completed the clean sweep with well-deserved bronze medals.

Now, all eyes turn to the upcoming U14 EFC Festival in Istanbul, where foil, épée, and sabre fencers will gather from 28 to 29 June 2025 for a true celebration of youth fencing.
