On the first day of the European Championships in Plovdiv Martina Batini and Davide di Veroli put their signatures on the European titles of women's foil and men's epee. Italy in a single day won six medals, making all blue the foil podium, and taking a first and a second place in the epee.

Martina Batini competes at a European Senior Championship after 5 years of absence and did it great, climbing on the highest step. Her competition started as number 1 after the pools and did not stop until the final.
