The World Fencing Championships of Cadets and Juniors in Torun, Poland started unusually with Juniors events, presenting men's and women's saber on the first day together with opening ceremony .
Junior men's saber event ended with Roma Lorenzo claiming the world's champion title for Italy as he faced Dragomir George (ROU) in the final and Saron Mitchell (USA) in the semifinal match. Roma's teammate Mignuzzi Giacomo took bronze.
In women's saber competition, Mikhailova Alina (RUS) prevailed over Botello Natalia (MEX) 15:10 in the final, after defeating Tarico Benedetta (ITA) in the semi. Botello faced Ilieva Zoana (BUL) in the second semifinal, leaving her with bronze.
Out of 8 possible medals, european fencers claimed 6, what a way to start!
