FOGGIA – The seventh day of the Cadet and Junior European Fencing Championship that are taking place in Foggia, is golden for the Italian athletes, thanks to the victories by the epee fencer Federica Isola and the sabre fencer Matteo Neri.
Federica Isola won the european title in women epee Under 20, beating during the finals the russian Evgeniya Zharkova 15-10; she debuted 15-5 against the spanish Laura Aznar and beated the ukrainian Darja Varfolomyeyeva, the polish Alicja Klasik 15-8, the czech Veronika Bieleszova 15-7 and with the same score, also che russian Manana Saumova.
Matteo Neri is the sabre european champion in junior category: during his race to the european title, he beated the georgian Nikoloz Tcheishvili 15-5, the romanian George Dragomir 15-8, the belgian Arne De Ridder 15-8, the georgian Nika Shengelia 15-7 and in final, the russian Vladislav Podznyakov with the same score.
Italy still in command of the medal collection with seven gold, one silver and eight bronze medals.
The last two individual events of this championships will be fenced tomorrow.
