EFC ATHLETES’ COMMISSION BEGINS SERIES OF SIX ONLINE SEMINARS
The EFC is pleased to announce its latest series on online seminars, focusing on athletes and their welfare within sport. Six seminars will be delivered over the next five months, each centered on topics that will benefit the core members of the fencing community.
Nowadays, the role of Athletes’ Commissions has become very important. The mission of the Athletes’ Commission is to ensure that athletes’ viewpoints remain at the heart of the Olympic Movement decisions. Athletes from around the world can find support and special projects created for them by different sports organizations.
During the opening seminar the role of the commission and Athlete365 will be explained. Athlete365 is an online portal developed by the IOC’s Athletes’ Commission containing a wealth of knowledge, useful to all athletes.
The series will continue over the coming months covering the topics of educational opportunities, prevention of competition manipulation, career transition, personal brand and mental health.
The seminars are planned to be attended by leading athletes and experts, including:
- Aron Szilagyi – three-time Olympic Champion in fencing
- Maria Ntanou – three-time Olympian (cross-country skiing), Digital Communication manager at FIE
- Ana Popovcic – former fencer, fencing coach, PhD, Head of Olympic Education
Programs at Croatian Olympic Academy
- Prof. Dr. Vincent Gouttebarge – Chair of IOC Mental Health Working Group
The first seminar starts on February 23 and will continue until June 2022.
