European Fencing Confederation Congress 2024 in Budapest

08 September 2024

On September 14, 2024, the European Fencing Confederation (EFC) will hold its highly anticipated Congress in Budapest, Hungary. This pivotal event will bring together representatives from various national fencing federations to discuss important matters related to the governance and future of fencing in Europe. The Congress will feature both an ordinary and extraordinary session, focusing on the life and direction of the EFC, as well as the election of key officials for the upcoming term.

The ordinary part of the Congress will address routine but vital issues concerning the operations of the EFC. Delegates will discuss proposals submitted by national federations, covering a range of subjects aimed at refining and improving the sport. These could include adjustments to strategic initiatives to grow the sport across Europe, efforts to increase participation among young athletes and other topics.

A key highlight of this year’s Congress will be the extraordinary session, where members will elect a new President and the Committee Executive (COMEX) for the 2025-2028 term. The elections are always a significant event, as the newly elected officials will guide the organization through upcoming challenges and opportunities.

With the current leadership cycle coming to a close, this election will mark a new chapter for the EFC. The 2024 Congress in Budapest promises to be a landmark event for the European fencing community. From key decisions on federation proposals to the election of new leadership, this Congress will have a lasting impact on the sport for years to come.
