President Scarso and COMEX members visited the Mayor of Tallinn
In the perspective of an ever more careful interaction and relationship with the Administrators of the Countries that welcome the European fencing events, the President of the European Confederation Giorgio Scarso, accompanied by the members of COMEX Ana Valero-Collantes and Hilary Philbin, visited the Mayor of Tallinn, Mihhail Kõlvart.
The meeting, marked by the utmost cordiality, was an opportunity for the Confederation to thank the City of Tallinn for the welcome given to the European Fencing, steeped in the European Cadets and Juniors Championships. The Mayor, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Vadim Belobrovtsev, expressed words of admiration for fencing and, in positively evaluating the presence of so many young people in the most “Green city “of Europe, expressed a strong interest in considering the possibility of applying for the organization of an even more challenging event than to a European, which can be a World Senior Championships.
The delegation of the Confederation, accompanied by members of the Estonian women’s epee team (Erika Kirpu, Irina Embrich and Julia Beljajeva), winner of the Olympic medal in Tokyo 2020, was entertained in a cordial, friendly and warm meeting, where issues related to fencing and the organisation of events, such as the one taking place in Tallinn these days, have been reviewed. The President, on behalf of the Confederation, presented a gift bearing the logo of the Confederation, which was reciprocated with the delivery to the members of the delegation of a souvenir to testify to the welcome visit received.
Departing from the important meeting, the members of the Confederation delegation renewed the signs of gratitude towards Estonia and Tallinn.
