FIRST THREE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM EVENTS COMPLETE
The first three team events took place today on day nine of the Cadet European Fencing Championships.
Italy topped the table in the Women’s Team Epee event as their lineup of Eleonora Orso, Elisa Treglia, Allegra Cristofoletto and Federica Zogna collected the European title. Spain – Silvia Gomez Lopez, Helena Linares Urbina, Candela Lozano Porras and Martina Torrego Alvarez – collected the silver medal after losing in the final. Israel completed the podium as Maya Freireich, Michal Cohen, Yuval Yizhaki and Alexandra Kravets received the bronze medal.
Italy also topped the table in the Women’s Team Foil event with Matilde Molinari, Beatrice Bibite, Greta Collini and Sofia Giordani stricking gold by beating turkey – Fatima Anbarlilar, Alsia Isbir, Almila Durukan and Elif Ay – in the final. The bronze medal was claimed by Great Britain – Isabella Johnson, Amelie Tsang, Megan Elliott and Carolina Stutchbury.
The last event on the penultimate date of the Cadet competition saw Hungary – Frigyes Godo, Zsombor Hanzely, Oszkar Vajda and Kornel Pech – take the European title in the Men’s Team Sabre event. They beat France – Lucas Guilley, Tom Coudrec, Axel Pogu and Guillaume Scelles – in the final as Romania – Casian Cidu, Dacian Enache, Rares Gheorghe and Luca Radu – completed the podium in the bronze medal position.
