Foil and épée talents shine in FFE Circuit events

This weekend, all eyes turned to Prague and Lausanne as two major stages of the Fencing for Everyone (FFE) Circuit took place simultaneously, showcasing a wide range of talent across foil and épée weapons.

Foil Action in Prague

In the Czech capital, the EFC FFE Circuit Praha welcomed U23 foil fencers for a weekend of high-level competition. The Men’s Foil individual event on Saturday delivered a strong showing from Germany, with Niklas Diestelkamp and Max Klostermann taking gold and silver, respectively. Lev Michael Holy secured bronze for the host nation alongside Jakub Rozmus from Slovakia.

Later that day, the Women’s Team Foil saw Germany once again at the top, with Lucia Arnela, Ella Gamke, Merle Herwig, and Aline Rustler earning gold ahead of Czechia and Great Britain. Sunday’s competitions continued the momentum as Czech fencer Michala Illekova claimed victory in the Women’s Foil individual event, followed by France’s Garance Martin with silver. Rebeka Forgach (SVK) and Katerina Nemeskalova (CZE) shared third place.

The Team Men’s Foil event wrapped up the weekend with another triumph for Germany, with Czechia and Great Britain completing the podium. Full results from the Prague competition are available here

Épée Excellence in Lausanne

Meanwhile in Lausanne, the U23 Épée competitions brought together a strong international field, blending seasoned performers with rising stars. Maksym Perchuk of Ukraine delivered an outstanding performance to claim gold in the Men’s Épée individual event, asserting his dominance throughout the day. Switzerland’s Ian Hauri secured silver, continuing his impressive form just one week after earning the same medal at the Budapest Grand Prix. Bronze medals went to Colin Mumenthaler, also representing Switzerland, and France’s Tigrame Traoré Carré, both reaching the podium after a series of tightly contested bouts.

France showed depth in the Women’s Épée individual category, as Lana Tarin and Thais Naucelle Jardel topped the podium with gold and silver. Elea Jouve (FRA) and Emily Conrad (UKR) rounded out the semifinals.

Team events brought even more excitement to Switzerland’s Olympic capital. Ukraine proved unbeatable in both the Men's and Women's Épée team competitions. The men’s team — Roman Samoilov, Vladyslav Nazarevych, Maksym Perchuk, and Arsenii Prokofiev — stood atop the podium, followed by Italy and Norway. On the women’s side, Ukraine’s lineup of Mariia Voloshyna, Oleksandra Romanova, Emily Conrad, and Kateryna Korotetska outmatched Switzerland 1 and Great Britain.
