On the 11th of November 2022 in Carrara, Giorgio Scarso, the President of The European Fencing Confederation (EFC), met the President of the Mediterranean Fencing Confederation, Mr. Ziad El-Choueri.
On the 11th of November 2022 in Carrara, Giorgio Scarso, the President of The European Fencing Confederation (EFC), met the President of the Mediterranean Fencing Confederation, Mr. Ziad El-Choueri.
In the meeting, three crucial subjects were treated:
- The calendar
- The involvement of Mediterranean athletes in EFC’s projects
- The inclusion of the U23 Mediterranean Cup in Carrara on the EFC agenda competition
The calendar was the first topic discussed. The EFC’s President and the President of the Mediterranean Fencing Confederation have found essential agreement matters: creating a calendar that is as coherent as possible with both events of the confederations to avoid overlapping competitions. After this, the attention was focused on the engagement of Mediterranean athletes in the EFC’s projects.The EFC wants to create a new engagement way to involve the athletes of the Mediterranean Confederation in formation projects like technical courses and internships. The goal that wants to be achieved with this new initiative is the technical growth of Mediterranean athletes and the promotion of the global fencing movement. Finally, another agreement was reached on the inclusion of the EFC agenda’s competition of the U23 Mediterranean Cup in Carrara.
These three projects are essential evidence of the engagement between the European Fencing Confederation and the Mediterranean Fencing Confederation.

Le 11 novembre 2022 à Carrare, Giorgio Scarso, le Président de la Confédération européenne d’escrime (CEF), a rencontré le Président de la Confédération méditerranéenne d’escrime, Ziad El-Choueri.
Durant l’encontre trois questions importantes a été affrontées :
- Le calendrier,
- L’implication des athlètes méditerranéens dans les projets de l’EFC
- L’inclusion de la Coupe Méditerranée U23 à Carrara dans le calendrier de l’EFC.
En particulier, l'attention a été mise sur la création d'un calendrier aussi cohérent que possible avec les événements des deux confédérations pour éviter les chevauchements de compétitions. Il a aussi été décidé que les athlètes méditerranéens seront impliqués dans les projets de formation de l’EFC comme par exemple des cours techniques et des stages. L’objectif qui veut être atteint avec cette nouvelle initiative est la croissance technique des athlètes méditerranéens et la promotion de l’escrime au niveau mondial. Un autre accord a été conclu sur l’inclusion de la Coupe Méditerranée U23 à Carrara dans le calendrier de l’EFC.
Ces trois projets sont une preuve d’un lien fort e de la collaboration entre l’EFC et la Confédération d’Escrime Méditerranéenne.
