On the last day of the European Championships in Plovdiv, the European titles of men's foil and women's sabre were awarded.

On the last day of the European Championships in Plovdiv, the European titles of men's foil and women's sabre were awarded. The young twenty-one year-old Filippo Macchi (ITA) won the gold medal, beating in an assault pulled to the last stroke, the two-time World Champion: the Frenchman Enzo Lefort (FRA). On his way to the title, the new European Champion had to face two teammates: the number 4 in the world, Alessio Foconi, in the 8 draw, and Guillaume Bianchi in the semifinals 15-13. Completing the podium,  was Frenchman Rafael Savin who was stopped by compatriot Enzo Lefort in his path to victory. 

To make the Anthem resound among the platforms of Plovdiv in the women's sabre was Manon Apithy-Brunet, who adds the European Title to her palmarès . The Frenchwoman was top seed  after the poules, with 5 victories.   After an assault played until the end, she overcame the Greek Theodora Gkountoura in the semifinals, and then won against teammate Sara Balzer, back from an impeccable season. On the third step also climbed Martina Criscio(ITA), who surrendered only to Balzer, current number 3 in the world.
