This weekend, in Brno (CZE), 89 men’s, from 16 countries, and 60 women's, from 13 countries, foilists attended the U23 Sokol Cup.
The men’s foil competition was won by the Italian fencer IANDOLO Francesco Pio. With a very good start, he was third after the pool, he defeated firstly MUNAROLO Davide 14-10 in T64, PIRK Akos 15-9, KREJCIK Jan 15-9, BRUNNER Remi 15-11, SPOLJAR Borna 15-13 in semi-final and in the final the local fencer POSCHARNIG Johannes 15-11.
In the women’s foil competition, the German fencer Leandra Beher, after one only match lost in the pool, started the direct elimination at 16th place. She reached the final winning with POLONYI Petra, the number 1 BRUGGER Lilli Maria 15-10, POSGAY Zsofia 15-8, the Hungarian fencer NEKIFOR Erika 15-9 in the semi-final and TORTELOTTI Lucia 15-10 to claim the gold medal.
